JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In an interview on Israel’s Radio Two channel, outgoing Health Minister Yaakov Litzman attacked the outgoing director-general of his ministry, Moshe Bar Siman-Tov for allegedly “sowing panic” during the coronavirus outbreak in Israel.

Litzman said that “the moment my director-general said that he is concerned there may be ten thousand deaths I shouted during the cabinet meeting in his presence and in the presence of all the ministers that I disagree with him. I thought it was totally exaggerated but the prime minister accepted it and gave in to the fears of the director-general.”
However recently Litzman himself had praised Bar Siman-Tovs’ professionalism and said that his resourcefulness had been a major reason for Israel’s success in weathering the crisis.
A confused Bar Siman Tov responded to Ynet, stating that “I respect Minister Litzman a lot as well as his views and significant contribution to the battle against the virus, and I believe that the whole way through we acted wisely and saved thousands of lives.”
