WASHINGTON (Newsmax) – Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said during a radio interview he has not spoken to President Donald Trump in “weeks.”

Fauci told Washington, D.C., NPR-affiliate WAMU he talked to Trump, “not last week, but the week before.”

“I spoke with him when we made the presentation to explain to him our vaccine development efforts,” Fauci said. “So, it was two weeks ago.”

The White House coronavirus task force expert said his encounters with Trump have become fewer and fewer. Earlier this month, Fauci said, “I was meeting with him four times a week back, a month or so ago. But as you probably noticed, that the task force meetings have not occurred as often lately.”

Fauci gave hope a coronavirus vaccine could be coming soon.

“We fully expect that we will have an advanced trial . . . by the first week or two in July,” Fauci said. “We’re moving very quickly, and I might emphasize not at the expense of safety.”

Fauci also talked about the need for people to use caution as states continue easing coronavirus restrictions.

“Even when states officially go by the standard type of recommendations, you still find people within a state or within a city who are not adhering to recommendations,” Fauci said. “It isn’t as if you stay locked down or you open up and leave caution to the wind.”

And he said it is not a given the United States will face another wave of coronavirus pandemic.

“It is not inevitable that we’re going to have a second wave if we do what we need to do to prevent it from happening,” Fauci said.

You think “luck ” is not real?
How else does a windbag academic doctor who never treated patients get to work for 4-5 presidents?
Worse than a nagging mother in law.

Donald Trump, who knows more than the scientists does not want to hear what Fauci has to say. It appears he picked Tulsa for this Deplorable rally knowing that there is a huge spike in Covad infections and hospitalizations in Tulsa just to spite Fauci.

Sorry archy. I just came on now. No, trump has failed to coordinate a national response so each state had to compete against one another for supplies and has continually different outcomes because he undermines his own experts. No nation that has seen success against covid thinks he has done a good job.

Now the states which support him the most are the ones suffering, along with California.

As for closing the border with china, 40,000 people got through and the virus was already here anyway so closing the border only addresses part of the problem, particularly since infected people from europe continued to arrive.

I do beleive he has done a good job of taking china to task but he cant use it to hide his own leadership failings.

He said it would go away when things warmed up and it’s the warm states getting it. He said it will go away by itself and it hasn’t. He tried to blame obama for not having a vaccine for a disease that hadn’t been discovered yet. He tired to blame obama by saying they weren’t briefed when they were with an 88 page memo. He removed NSA assigned overseas to monitor pandemics and gutted key personnel. He claimed that he was left with no equipment when he has already been in office there years.

He could have knocked this out of the park by leaving the decision making and messaging and coordination to Pence with the governors. Instead, he couldn’t stay away from the camera, didn’t attend briefings and made a mess of things.

And I never seriously considered hecwouldnt be reelected until recently. He has 4 months to demonstrate that he can actually not only lead but coordinate and plan ahead.

If not, he will lose to someone who is also not fully equipped to be president and who has defects that are different than trump’s but are defects nonetheless. Also, with Gardener and Collins and McSally likely losing from the Republicans and Doug Jones losing from the Democrats, one more Republican loss with Biden winning would give Democrats both houses and the Presidency which is not great. It’s never good for one party to have both houses and the Presidency.

Trump needs the economy to at least tread water and to reach out to undecided moderates which he has not done effectively lately.

Your “undecided moderates ” are watching the horror of the radicals and Dem supporters tear this country apart.
You’re naiively underestimating the Silent moderates who are the majority.
They watched how an innocent POTUS was impeached on Stalinist tactics, regardless if they voted for him or not.
There’s a seething fright snd rage that will push Trump into a landslide.
You don’t get it, because apparently you overdosed on CNN NBC CBS and other fake news.

Fauci is a mild mannered sweet talking sociopath and maniac. He contradicted himself right from the get-go. He was on all able shows urging everybody to socialise even as late as March. Then he turned, turned, and turned again citing faux science. He mixed some truth in to make himself believable.
His connections to Huan must be investigated.
He may yet be implicated in all this mess.

Mel,
And how is my assessment of a landslide different from your close election opinion?
Actually, your hope is even worse than when the polls showed Hillary up by 12-25. He’s an incumbent who’s done a superhuman job while the thugs attempted to unseat him.
I still have faith in the sanity of the majority. Especially when Biden has dementia.

When a million people want to come to his rally, many from other states, it shows an uprecedented love for him and this is not even normal. It is a symptom of what the cowed frightened majority is feeling across the land. Trump in a wipeout.
