NEW YORK (VINnews) — A frightening saga had a happy ending for over 20 Yeshiva boys, after they went missing Thursday night in the Catskill mountains.

The boys were part of a group from Camp Adas Yereiyim, were on a hiking trip in the Biscuit Brook area. Other groups from the same camp returned safely from their hikes. However this group, which had eventually split into 2 groups, were not seen since 1:00 PM, sometime after which they had entered the Big Indian Wilderness area in the Catskills, where is no cell phone service.
Close to midnight, an extensive search was launched, comprised of members of various local agencies, Hatzolah & Chaveirim.
At approximately 1:00 AM, both groups of boys were found. Thankfully they were all in good condition. The boys were only fatigued, having walked something like 20 miles before being located.
How often will this keep happening, when Hasidic kids go off the derech and get lost, with a massive search ensuing, at great expense?
They need to be instructed beforehand how to hike safely.
If they cause great expense irresponsibly and unnecessarily, maybe they will have to pay for it in the future. That is the case already in some places that when people put themselves in dangerous situations, necessitating expensive rescues, they get billed afterward.
