Israeli Police Brutally Attack Chareidim Over New Coronavirus Regulations

BNEI BRAK (VINnews) — Violent clashes broke out between police and Chareidi worshipers as police closed numerous shuls in accordance with the new lockdown regulations in Israel. Police were called to the Poalei Agudas Yisrael shul in central Bnei Brak after they were tipped off that hundreds of people were inside the shul in violation of the new regulations. Police reported that “besides the fact that the people were in the shul in violation of the guidelines, most people were not wearing masks and without proper social distancing, causing danger to life.”

After fining the worshipers for participating in a forbidden gathering, a number of worshipers rioted and caused disturbances. 13 people were arrested and people used excessive violence to disperse the crowds. In one instance a young man who was not connected to those gathered was thrown to the ground by a policeman. Police also brutally assaulted another Bnei Brak man, throwing him to the ground and hitting him in the face as well as throwing a young child off his bike.

Earlier Sunday, police used unusually brutal methods to enforce regulations in Beitar. In one instance a policeman threw a bucket at a 10 year-old boy who was then forcibly detained by police.

Police also fought with a person holding a year-old baby in his arms.

Police brutality in Beitar caused even left-wing Meretz MK Nitzan Horowitz to comment that “what police did in Beitar is absolutely revolting.”

I live in Ramot next to a very big shul where there are many minyanim and people who sit and learn. They have ONE outside minyan and all the rest are inside where they have plastic dividers.
About 1/3 do NOT wear masks, another 1/3 wears it below the nose and the rest are ok. A neighbor who is very careful and davens outside decided that for Rosh Hashannah, he would daven inside; from that one time he got the virus.
Some Rabbonim are strict and others don’t care.
If you are elderly or not in good health, take care of your self, others don’t care!
