JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Yisrael Hayom newspaper reported Thursday that Sudan has decided to normalize its relations with Israel. For many months it appeared that such an agreement would not be possible due to the opposition of the Sudanese prime minister Abdalla Hamdok but after the US agreed Monday to remove Sudan from the list of countries supporting terror in return for payment of reparations due to terror, the two countries succeeded in completing negotiations regarding normalization with Israel.

The official announcement is expected at the end of the week or the beginning of the coming week, after President Trump’s call with the leader of Sudan’s Transitional Military Council (TMC), Lt.-Gen. Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan. (The country is ruled both by the Military Council and by the civilian prime minister.)
The Ha’aretz newspaper reported that a special flight left Israel for Khartoum Wednesday carrying high-ranking members of the Mossad and the prime minister’s office. The officials met with Sudanese governnment officials and at the end of the discussions they reached a final agreement regarding normalization of relations between Israel and Sudan, which was once a sworn enemy of Israel affiliated with Iran.
