NEW YORK (VINnews) — Democrat Representative Emanuel Cleaver has provoked ire and mockery by closing a congressional prayer with the words ‘amen and a woman’.

The Missouri pastor was asked to deliver the prayer to open the 117th Congress on Sunday, and decided to make a gender neutral address.
Cleaver did not realize however that Amen is a Hebrew term meaning “It is true, let it be” and has no relation to gender.
Rep. Guy Reschenthaler said on Twitter: “It’s not a gendered word.
‘Unfortunately, facts are irrelevant to progressives. Unbelievable.”
Cleaver also raised eyebrows when mentioning Hindu god Brahma together with monotheistic God and “god” known by many names by many different faiths.’
Cleaver’s woke prayer may have been influenced by Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s proposing new rules that, she says, “honor all gender identities” by eliminating such specific terms as mother and father, son and daughter, and aunt and uncle.
I feel confused. Emanuel Cleaver is an ordained United Methodist pastor & has an MDiv from St. Paul School of Theology. How did he not learn the meaning of the word Amen? I'm very pro-female and I've never ever thought of that word as male. It means "so be it" in many languages!

Ben Shapiro also weighed in, pointing out how the word Amen is Hebrew and has absolutely no gender related connotation.

I was astounded decades ago to learn that some Catholic schools teach their students that Latin is older than Hebrew (the argument forecfully presented to me was that the Psalms were originally Latin, before the Jews stole them). This might explain his impression tthat Amen is Latin.
