“I am a doctor at the ICU in Tel Hashomer who has been treating COVID-19 patients in serious condition since the beginning of the pandemic. I do not generally use this media but there are a number of important things I wish to state because they impact on people’s lives and also because of the fatigue we are experiencing from treating this virus which tales a huge physical and emotional toll on us as well as on the entire system.

  1. “Perhaps the most important message is that obesity is a risk factor. Most of the seriously ill patients in the COVID-19 ICU are obese or overweight and therefore everyone in this category, irrespective of his age, should not just go and vaccinate but should run to do so.
  2. “The media gives too much attention to a group of ridiculous people who oppose the vaccination without any scientific basis. Thus the media in my opinion is responsible for the deaths of tens and even hundreds of people. Those in opposition are like other ridiculous groups that believe the world is flat. They should be ignored.
  3. “The vaccination is safe and very effective against coronavirus but not against facialis, myocarditis (inflammation of the heart), strokes and many other dangerous diseases. These will continue to exist during the period of vaccinations and as long as their numbers do not increase more than usual, there is no connection between them and the vaccination even if they occur immediately after it.
  4. “The present wave is characterized by a number of different groups of patients: Those who are at risk and did not take the vaccine due to false beliefs or due to some other medical issue which prevented them from vaccinating, those who do not vaccinate “for religious reasons” and those whose risk factors were not known until recently like pregnant women. I would warmly recommend that people over 30 and pregnant women hurry to get vaccinated.
  5. “There is no effective targeted treatment of coronavirus. The media gives too much attention to “dramatic” and trailblazing treatments which demonstrate 100% effectiveness against coronavirus but doesn’t mention that this is based on initial studies which involve a small and unrepresentative number of patients. The hype from these studies makes people lax about the vaccine, since if there’s an effective treatment, who needs vaccines?
  6. “Even the drugs which have been tried on large groups of participants with proper standards have been found to be ineffective, despite the buzz about their success. This disease in its severe and critical phases is very difficult to treat, like other complex conditions in the ICU and it does not seem that an effective treatment will be found soon. We must therefore focus on prevention by vaccination.”

So simple. And if you are old then stay away from other people. Not complicated.

Can anyone explain why no one has gotten up and said eating unhealthy is against the torah? Were running to open schools, shuls, burning busses in the name of torah but were not capable of eating healthy?
Always wondered how בד”ץ give hechsher on food that causes people to get sick (and at a minimum has no health benefit) because there are no treif ingredients yet its totally against ושמרתם מעוד לנפשותכם.
Isn’t that beyond misleading?

The advice from the ICU doctor should be “Obese, Overweight people should run…”.
Comorbidity is present in an overwhelming majority of Covid cases that result in serious illness or death.

The very real unspoken issue here is that many people neglect their own health. In lieu of expending effort and exertion to live healthily instead they search for the pill or drug that will mask the symptoms of their serious underlying condition(s). Why are we so hyper focused on finding cures for problems that develop due to people’s self neglect, instead of being adamant about the importance of proper diet and exercise?

Of course now they’re trying to sell the vaccine through guilt. Vaccines actually are a cause of obesity. Best to stay away.

At least 12 months by independent opinions and research until we can see the more objective statistics.
