Arabs Set Fire To Cars And Building In Shikkun Vizhnitz, Haifa, 60 Injured From Smoke Inhalation

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The vandalism being perpetrated by Israeli Arabs against Jews continued unabated Wednesday night despite increased police and border police presence in mixed Jewish-Arab towns. Early Thursday morning, Arab hooligans set on fire a number of Jewish cars on Rechov Ahavas Yisrael in Haifa’s Shikkun Vizhnitz. The fire spread towards one of the adjacent buildings and 60 people from the building were evacuated to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Surveillance cameras showed that the incident started before 4 AM when masked Arabs came to the car park, poured incendiary materials and set fire to cars.

One of the local residents told Arutz  Sheva that “I woke up at 4 in the morning to hear the telephone ringing. My friend Moshe Tessler, an MDA telephonist, told me : ‘wake up, take your kids and run away from your house.’

“I asked him what had happened and he said: “Your building is on fire. Don’t ask questions, just run immediately.”

“At this point I felt a strong smell of burning tires and then there were terrifying explosions of petrol tanks and even an adjacent gas pipe exploded. The front part of the building began to burn. I took the kids and ran downstairs where I found tens of neighbors who had run outside after receiving similar calls.

“The fire continued to spread and a number of neighbors who didn’t go downstairs were trapped in their houses. Firemen told them to close their doors and seal their houses. A short time after the fire department arrived they succeeded in controlling the fire but despite this 60 members of the building were evacuated to hospital as a result of smoke inhalation.”
