NEW YORK (VINnews) — In his speech in Dearborn, Michigan, a town where a third of the population identify as Arab Americans, President Biden made a point of addressing Michigan Rep. Rashida Tleib, whose parents are of Palestinian origin and whose grandmother still lives in Judea. Biden spoke emotionally, stating that “from my heart, I pray that your grandma and family are well. I promise you I’ll do everything to see that they are, on the West Bank. You’re a fighter and God thank you for being a fighter.”

Tleib has been an outspoken critic of Israel on many occasions, including last week in congress when she spoke about “Palestinian families being ripped from their homes in East Jerusalem” as well as “children being detained and murdered.”
