NEW YORK (VINnews) — A Palestinian BBC journalist covering the Israeli-Palestinian scene has been sacked after an internal probe revealed that she had tweeted that “Hitler was right” as well as other anti-semitic tropes.

Tala Halawa, a Ramallah-based BBC digital reporter, appears to have published the tweet in 2014 during the Protective Edge campaign between Israel and terror factions in Gaza, when she was working for 24FM, a Palestinian radio station.

Halawa added that  “Israel is more Nazi than Hitler” and that the Israeli Defence Force should “go to hell”.

The antisemitic statements were posted on Twitter prior to Ms Halawa joining the BBC as a local reporter in 2017.

The Israeli-based Honest Reporting organization brought Halawa’s tweets to the attention of the BBC last month and an internal investigation was launched.

A senior corporation source has now confirmed to the Jewish Chronicle that the investigation had concluded, adding that “This individual no longer works for the BBC.”
