JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Israeli consumers will be delighted after Amazon announced that it has renewed its free shipping to Israel promotion that was stopped by the outbreak of a global pandemic, Covid-19. However while previously the retail giant’s free shipping promotion was originally on any purchase above $49, it has now been raised to a minimum order of $65. (In July 2018 Amazon started free shipping on some items with a minimum order of $80) That means that the sweet spot for people in Israel is orders that fall anywhere between $65 and $75, to avoid shipping charges and customs charges added on.

Israel allows customs free purchases from abroad as long as the value does not exceed $75. There is talk of this being changed or cancelled, but for now this is still the rule. Obviously more items can be ordered, but thenthey will have VAT added on plus possibly other import taxes depending on value and specific item.

Shoppers can find items eligible for free shipping on Amazon’s site, and will find out about estimated delivery times during online checkout. The delivery schedule will vary depending on the items and address, Amazon said. Ynet is reporting that the new promotion does not yet include all products, but more are to be added soon. It also might not apply to large items that are more costly to ship.
