WASHINGTON (AP) — Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious diseases expert, blasted Sen. Ted Cruz for suggesting that Fauci be investigated for statements he made about COVID-19 and said the criticism by the Texas Republican was an attack on science.

“I should be prosecuted? What happened on Jan. 6, senator?” Fauci, who is President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, said in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” It was a reference to the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by supporters of then-President Donald Trump that was stoked as Cruz helped lead GOP objections to Congress’ certifying the 2020 election results.
“I’m just going to do my job and I’m going to be saving lives, and they’re going to be lying,” Fauci said.

Some Republicans, including Cruz and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., have accused Fauci of lying to Congress when he denied in May that the National Institutes of Health funded “gain of function” research — the practice of enhancing a virus in a lab to study its potential impact in the real world — at a virology lab in Wuhan, China. Cruz has urged Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Fauci’s statements.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, called the GOP criticism nonsense.
“Anybody who’s looking at this carefully realizes that there’s a distinct anti-science flavor to this,” he said.
Cruz and Paul say an October letter from NIH to Congress contradicts Fauci. But no clear evidence or scientific consensus exists that “gain of function” research was funded by NIH, and there is no link of U.S.-funded research to the emergence of COVID-19. NIH has repeatedly maintained that its funding did not go to such research involving boosting the infectivity and lethality of a pathogen.
When asked in the CBS interview whether Republicans might be raising the claims to make him a scapegoat and deflect criticism of Trump, Fauci said, “of course, you have to be asleep not to figure that one out.”
Mr. Faucci you may not have funded the Gain of function research, but don’t claim you have saved lives. The doctors and scientists working on the vaccine saved lives. The doctors and scientists that researched treatments saved lives. All you did and continue to do is run around doing interviews. Half of what you have said, if not more, you retracted or changed by the time you got to the next interview. You have not saved lives. You create fear and havoc without regard of the implications. Shame on you.
Fauci is a big baby. He needs to respond with an adequate defense against the accusation made by Cruz. Since he can’t, he resorts to making his own accusations. If he was bright enough to be accepted to medical school, he should have the intellectual maturity to give a straight response. But, no. I wouldn’t mind feeling that we have a scientific expert here, but that seems not to be the case. All we have is an anti-Trump politician. So sad.

Fraudci Recently changed the definition of gain of function in an effort to split hairs about what he, yeah, HE was funding. He has pretty much single handed control over the billions of dollars of American medical research dollars.
He is a sick, twisted, sadistic, criminal sociopath. Save lives?? This man alone is responsible for the majority of covid deaths in America and the economic destruction as well. He single-handedly kept every single helpful drug away from sick and dying people. He refused to do valid studies on any cheap off label drugs saving his effort for patented drugs, and then, refused to recommend anything therapeutically without studies. He purposely lied about the effectiveness of masks (every single old and new study shows they rarely do anything to spread disease, EVEN in hospital settings) he invented social distancing without any science. He also created science by press conference. Basically he announces something- and the press repeats it incessantly, all without any science behind his words. No data, no studies, no proof. Just GODS word. Would he lie to us?? Never!! Whatever you think about Fauci, realize he is above all, a con artist. That is his one skill. That, and he’s a phenomenal crime organizer. He basically cemented together the crime mafia that is the health agencies and big pharma.

January 6th was not a crime for Senator Cruz either, nor for other Republicans – the greater story about it was revealed as an expose by Tucker Carlson at Fox News months ago.

They keep moving on the “science” goal post by constantly changing the definition of: vaccine. New Science will soon be that a synthetic spike virus was necessary to depopulate the planet due to global warming in a non-discriminatory fashion.
All I know is if Cv”SH in a hospital with COVID R”L, most would rather have Dr. Rand Paul at their side vs Tony Fauxy. The former volunteered for several month in a covid-19 ward, the latter hasn’t treated a patient in many decades and would probably insist on pumping patient with useless (in a hospital setting) Remdesevir and intubation.
so where does Jan 6 and Fauci’s beliefs about it play into his role of protecting lives and science? If apolitical, why did he bring it up? And what does it have to do with Covid which is his job?
