NEW YORK (AP) — NEW YORK (AP) — All New York City employers will have to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for their workers under new rules announced Monday by Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The vaccine mandate for private businesses will take effect Dec. 22 and is aimed at preventing a spike in COVID-19 infections during the holiday season and the colder months, the Democratic mayor said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“We in New York City have decided to use a preemptive strike to really do something bold to stop the further growth of COVID and the dangers it’s causing to all of us,” de Blasio said. “All private-sector employers in New York City will be covered by this vaccine mandate as of Dec. 22.”
Vaccinations are already required for city employees including teachers, police officers and firefighters, and a vaccination mandate for employees of private and religious schools was announced last week.
De Blasio said he expects the new mandate to survive any legal challenges.
Current New York City COVID-19 rules also include at least one vaccine dose for indoor restaurant dining, entertainment venues and fitness centers. Under new mandates for indoor dining, entertainment and gyms, two shots will be required for people over 12. One shot will be required for children aged 5 to 11, who are not covered by the current mandate, de Blasio said.
The #OmicronVariant has arrived. Winter months will make create new challenges. We’re not waiting for another #COVID19 surge.
We’re taking a preemptive strike:

Omicron is freaking cold like symptoms. Just ludicrous how people are going ballistic. Sometimes I just feel like mankind has lost its normality. ממש צודרייט
The mayor is not allowed to make laws.
The council in addition to all enumerated powers shall have power to adopt local laws which it deems appropriate, which are not inconsistent with the provisions of this charter or with the constitution or laws of the United States or this state, for the good rule and government of the city; for the order, protection and government of persons and property; for the preservation of the public health, comfort, peace and prosperity of the city and its inhabitants; and to effectuate the purposes and provisions of this charter or of the other law relating to the city. The power of the council to act with respect to matters set forth in sections one hundred ninety-seven-c and two hundred shall be limited by the provisions of section one hundred ninety seven-d.
when this pots mayor leaves office i will throw a party

More like he is looking and hoping for lawsuits because they will keep his name in the news for his governor run. And of course greatly increase his popularity among the “your body MY choice” vaccination crowd
(I’m pro vax but anti vax mandate)
He’s just following the footsteps of our venerated president who believes it’s ok to circumvent the law and the legislature and just make up your own. Won’t hold up on court for a minute. Won’t be enforceable either. Going to invite discrimination.
Just leave already and don’t let the door hit u on the way out
While I believe that everyone should be vaccinated, realistically this mandate will be ignored.
It will encourage the use of fake vaccine cards.
I don’t get their chasing after all the working people to get vax and threatening to fire them if they don’t get vaccinated (and then they’re livelihood is at stake, which that I understand is the point for them to get vaccinated) but I’m not hearing from anyone if you don’t get vaccinated you’ll lose section 8 if you don’t get vaccinated you’ll lose welfare or you’ll lose weight etc….
If you’re in NYC, start filling out an exemption app, just in case this craziness isn’t resolved before the decreed date by these treacherous instigators against moralistic governance.
Just ignore it. If there is wide spread civil disobedience they can’t do anything
Kol hakovid!!!
This will save lives. Thank you, Mayor De Blasio.
