The incident occurred in a Kiryat Gat child care center. The toddler was found unconscious in the courtyard, apparently after getting caught in a lace from her hoodie. Shlomo Rothschild, a United Hatzalah EMT said that “I gave her CPR and miraculously her pulse returned. She was transferred in serious but stable condition to the Barzilai hospital in Ashkelon.”
The incident occurred after 10 AM. MDA emergency responder Menachem Gavrielov said that “I was nearby when I received an alert on my comm device and people guided me to the child care center. I saw an unconscious toddler being resuscitated after she had suffocated on a lace from her hoodie
“I continued advanced CPR including chest compressions and assisted respiration and after the pulse returned we transferred her to a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in stable condition.”
Unfortunately, this could happen to any toddler wearing a sweater with a drawstring. Drawstrings are dangerous for babies and toddlers!
