BALTIMORE (VINNews) — Sheila Dixon, the former Mayor of Baltimore, is being sharply condemned after she made antisemitic remarks on a Youtube video. Her baseless claims are not only anti-Jewish, they are racially divisive.

The Maryland Republican Jewish Council (MRJC) and the Maryland Black Republican Council (MBRC) are jointly condemning Dixon’s antisemitic and racist comments, in which she claimed that Orthodox Jews had a school closed down near their community because it was attended by black students.
On the December 1st episode of “Pop and Politics LIVE” the former Baltimore Mayor said at the 33:07 minute mark, that politics closed her high school, Northwestern High school because, “The Orthodox Jews didn’t want those Black kids up there in the Upper Park Heights community.”
The comments were not only antisemitic and race-baiting, but patently untrue. A highly credible source told VIN News, “The school board closed Northwestern and many other schools in the city to combine schools with low enrollment numbers and move them into new 21st century school buildings. Northwestern is now Forest Park High School and is in a beautiful new building. This new school is located within the same city council district as Northwestern.”
In 2010, Dixon resigned as Mayor, as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, after she was found guilty of stealing gift cards from needy families.

Sheila the shoe, as she’s also known, is at it again. She can’t seem to stay out of trouble. She was actually close to winning re-election as mayor again. I only in Baltimore, (and Washington DC, where the voters are dumb as a rock. The current mayor, Brandon Scott is cut from the same cloth.
I grew up one block over from northwestern. The area was always always full of crime from the high school students. They’d beat us up, steak our bikes. They started to recruit kids from the middle school on labyrinth to their gangs. So they had to switch the middle school to an elementary school. They’ve never fixed the problems.
I am a Democrat who grew in Maryland and am in Maryland right now.
I unequivocably condemn these slanderous lies.
Hopefully more Democrats will.
Remember that this is a woman who literally stole from needy children.
I have some very choice words to describe her but I keep them to myself.
We got to see the inside of Northwestern on many occasions. A hideous, horrible dump – filthy broken sinks and cracked tiles everywhere. All systems – electric, HVAC, plumbing etc – in an awful state of disrepair. A terrible place to learn..
Northwestern was Sheila Dixon’s alma mater. Did she put a plug nickel into it? She could not have cared less.

The facts are when the school was open, it wasn’t anywhere near full capacity. Probably 80% of the kids that actually showed up to school were being bussed in from miles away. And yes it’s true that some of the kids frequently walked the surrounding Jewish neighborhoods cutting thru backyards and stealing stuff (had my bike stolen twice as a kid. The high school kids were caught by police both times joy riding with several stolen other bikes without a care in the world).
The orthodox community around the school has never had a say in whether the school should be there or not….as far as I know. The issue has never come up. one day a few years ago the school closed saying they were temporarily moving students to another location so repairs could be made to this location. It never opened back up.

this is totally untrue because another public school is now using the building,.
It’s scary watching Jews be so quick to scream Antisemitism. First her point was about politics and her opponent. But more important is what she said is true. The Orthodox didn’t want the 99% Black high school in the neighborhood (& its common knowledge amongst Jews, Whites, Blacks and everyone else). With the candidates being pretty much the same, why wouldn’t the Orthodox vote for the one that promised to close the school? Playing politics to get what you want then calling any talk of it “Antisemitism” is counterproductive.
Calling someone “Gift Card Steala” is definitely not a way to make friends.

As a long time Baltimorean well aware of the issues surrounding N.W. H.S. this seems a little overblown which is not unusual for Jews today.
