DISGUSTING: MK Yair Golan Calls Chomesh Settlers ‘Subhumans’

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Israeli Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Yair Golan once again caused a political uproar Thursday. Golan, who in the past has compared Israel’s current behavior to pre-war Nazi Germany, attacked the Chomesh settlers who have stayed in the community after the attack in which Yehuda Dimentman HyD was murdered and termed them “subhumans” – a term used by the Nazis, who described Jews as ‘untermensch’

During a Knesset interview Golan said that “these people are not people, they are subhuman, disgraceful people. The dregs of the Jewish nation. We cannot give them any support, we need to remove them from there by force. This ultra-nationalist wildness will bring tragedy on us.”

Golan’s statement led to immediate condemnations from the political arena. Prime Minister Bennett said that “Yair Golan’s words about the settlers are shocking, generalization and constitute a blood libel. The settlement in Judea and Samaria is the pioneering of our time.”

Golan responded that he was referring to “destroyers of tombstones, attackers of innocent people, wreckers of other people’s belongings. How should we refer to these people? It’s time to says the truth – this is not our Judaism.”

Likud leader Netanyahu said that “the settlers in Judea and Samaria are not ‘subhuman’ they are Zionist pioneers who love and settle our forefather’s heritage. After this disgraceful statement, taken straight from the Nazi terminology used against the Jewish people, Bennett must fire Yair Golan today.

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked also condemned Golan, stating that “Yair Golan’s words are disgusting and shame his past record. The Chomesh settlers are pioneers who love the country. The yeshiva at Chomesh spreads Torah and light, which banishes some of the darkness. Yair Golan will continue to mutter to himself and these wonderful pioneers will continue to settle the land.”

Shas leader MK Aryeh Deri said that “the terrible incitement against the settlers has reached new peaks. Who imagined that in the Jewish state a member of the government would call Jews ‘subhuman’ a terrible and angering statement which reminds us of the most difficult periods in history. The members of this illegitimate government are reaching new nadirs daily. Shame and disgrace!
