While visiting a precinct with new NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell in Jamaica, Queens on New Year’s Day, Adams assured cops that he will support the good ones, but issued a tough warning to those who step out of line.
In the video obtained by the nY Post, Adams is seen telling officers, “We have the finest among us and sometimes unfortunately we have a small number of the worst among us. My covenant to you is you protect my community, I’m going to protect you. I’m going to have your backs. But if you are abusive to my community, I’m going to make sure you don’t serve in my department and you don’t hurt your fellow officers.”
The meeting took place on Adams’ first day in office, but reporters were not allowed in.
Many have speculated that Adams, himself a former cop, will show support for police officers, which would be a sharp contrast to his predecessor who showed immense disrespect for the police, including defunding them and disbanding one of the finest NYPD units in the city.
Why should abusive cops be allowed to remain cops, and why should wanting to ban them be seen as anti-cop? Is it anti-nurse if you don’t want nurses giving patients the wrong medicine? Is it anti-teacher if you want your kids coming home from school without bruises?
A true Mentch
After his speech, the union representative reminded him of who is really in charge. Nice photo op.
Democrat politicians are like a venomous snakes, you take them home and they bite, regardless how nice you treated them.
Like termites who destruct the home you live in, liberals destroy the house. The askanim who supported him, will have no say anymore, they are not needed, he has the immigrants.
Like a sink whole eating away the foundation, the democrats chip way at the foundations, no matter how good they pretend to be.
