NEW YORK CITY (VINnews) — Mayor Eric Adams warned an elite group of NYPD cops not to use unlawful tactics or engage in misconduct, or they will be fired.

In a radio interview Sunday on WBLS, an urban station, Adams directed comments at the anti-gun unit, a highly effective group which was disbanded by Mayor deBlasio and reinstated by Adams last week.

As reported by the NY Post, Adams said, “If you don’t follow the law, you’re not going to serve in my police department.”

It appears that the new mayor was addressing concerns that the new unit will repeat the same controversial tactics of the old one.

He added, “We know what was wrong with the unit. It was an abusive unit. It targeted and profiled.”

The mayor said the unit will be required to wear body cameras when they stop or question someone, and they will not be allowed to wear plainclothes.

“They’re going to have modified uniforms so you know they’re police officers,” he said.

This is not the first time Adams has threatened cops about misconduct. As reported on VIN News, on his first day in office, he was recorded on video warning police officers not to be too abusive or they will be fired.

What a disgusting human being starting off his term as mayor immediately after a double tragedy of peace officers slain in the line of duty and as a former cop himself that instead of being tough on crime he feels the need to acquiesce to the blm terrorist movement

Good. Don’t be abbusive and follow the law. We get that. But allow them to police, allow them to protect themselves and for the sake of the city get Braggs and all those that say breaking the law is ok out of positions of power. Cops have to follow the laws and Governors, mayors and DAs must follow the law and prosecute those that break them. Otherwise the city will be overrun. Eventually those that get away with shoplifting and stealing will end up doing worse.

Smart things cops should do is take at least 15 minutes to respond to any violent calls in areas where guns are usually used. This way the criminals will shoot each other instead of the cops. If you see two lions fighting don’t get involved. Just come after it’s over and write up your report and Mayor Adam’s will be just fine with you.

Iconic rite aid in nyc closed down bec they can’t afford it with 200k in shop lifting in 3 months . Morale among employees trying to stop them is at all time high. We need law and order . We need a Rudy vs this chaleria

We had our chance to elect a normal Rudy kind of mayor. Instead we sent a weirdo Quirk kurdos a sleeway to run. We couldn’t find anyone normal? This would have been a shoe in. Let’s hope we do better for governor
