ISRAEL (VINnews) — In what could be a historic development, El Al is going to experiment with organized tefilah services on flights to and from Israel.

As reported in Globes, the airline has informed staff that it will conduct a trial of organized minyanim in the galley at the back of planes. The times of tefilos will be announced before the flight.
According to the report, Shacharis will take place if possible exactly at Vasikin time. The letter sent by the company to cabin staff emphasized the importance of the timing and instructed matters in the kitchen to be arranged so that davening can take place at precise times.
The formally organized minyanim are designed to replace what has been an ongoing custom for many decades–informal gatherings of men, which can be disruptive, inconvenient, and prevent crew and passengers from moving around freely.
El Al says that the minyanim will not be allowed to spill over into aisles and disturb passengers seated at the back of the plane. In addition, men will be required to wear masks.
However, if weather conditions become threatening during davening times, passengers will be asked to return to their seats.
Last year, Kenny Rozenberg, a wealthy orthodox businessman from Monsey, took control of the airline and pledged to make dramatic improvements.
Wait till Women of the Air wanna join the minyan…..
Amazing!! May they have much Hatzlacha!!
I will tell you what I do and all of you should do the same. Whenever I fly El Al I buy key chain tehillims for all 16 pilots and stewards on the plane. They are very appreciative. Last time I spent two hours discussing their questions on Judaism. Most of them are very secular. They don’t know much about Torah. It’s our opportunity to work on them. They nebech were raised in the secular tziyonim public schools and are ignorant of yiddishkeit. When I got them the gifts of key chains they gave me a bottle of wine as their appreciation. Let’s start to do Kiruv on every Israeli we meet in Israel. We can make a revolution.
Will there be kiddush following davening?
Talking during chazoras hashtag will be reported to TSA
I’ve been thinking about this a little bit more. How much room is there in an airline galley anyway? Do they even have room for 10 people there? This is going to become a bigger joke than what it was before.
What will be the nusach of El Al minyonim and will there be breakaway minyonim on each flight?
Hope they also add live Zmanim to the infotainment system.
Can I apply to go with a Pushka?
Just fly United they will not make any problems as they always accommodate and even helping out by switching on the lights so it should be even more convenient.
I flow United 2 weeks ago. Great experience there was a few minyan and they were very accommodating.
Just the other day I read here how secular innovations are corrupting religions. Now we see this innovation.
Don’t tie up the galleys and entrance to the bathrooms. You can daven in your seats or else travel by boat.
What will be when the Arabs will say they too wanna pray? I don’t think this is a good idea.
Official or an unofficial minyan… there is a minyan always!
There is zero room on a 787 for minyanim. We flew to EY on a 787 in 2018 and we tried to get a minyan together – there was literally no place to stand.
They just don’t get it!! We have 2 mitzvos on the plane 1. To daven 2. To fight with the flight attendants
We’ll find some other reason to fight with them To bad their taking away the whole fun
And of course what’s going to happen is that the shiksa עמי הארץ flight attendants are going to decide it’s not a good time for them and it’ll be too bad on the minyan.
I find that interesting that they know what time minyan should take place. I think the times I’ve been on elal, we’ve been told it was okay to daven shachris but it was clearly too early. If you looked outside, there wasn’t a drop of light available to be seen.
On the other hand, it’s about time the Israeli airline was made Jewish, really Jewish. Maybe now they’ll actually stop flying and working on Shabbos kodesh!
