DISGRACE: Israeli Politician Says Terrorists’ Families Deserve Compensation

ISRAEL (VINnews) — A left-wing Knesset Member said that payments made by the Palestinians to families of terrorists are justified.

Gaby Lasky of Meretz, part of Naftali Bennett’s coalition, made the disgraceful comments Friday, justifying the pay-to-slay program, hours after the attack in Tel Aviv, the fourth deadly terror attack in two weeks.

Lasky was asked on Kan radio about payments that the PA will give the Tel Aviv attacker’s family.

She responded, “There are children who are left without financial support, it is necessary that they not be taken advantage of or turn to terror themselves. I know that people have a hard time hearing this, but I also think that there is no need for collective punishment of the families [of terrorists], there is no need to destroy homes or carry out administrative arrests.”

Lasky later apologized, but that is not even close to sufficient. Her apology was clearly only due to the immense backlash after she said something so cruel and heartless. Her true feelings did not change in a few hours. (Also, she initially said “I know that people have a hard time hearing this”, so she was clearly aware that she was saying something vicious and insensitive).

In addition, her apology was pitifully weak. She tweeted, “My comment was uncalled for and did not for a moment justify the nefarious terror [attack] and I apologize fot it. I unequivocally condemn the horrific attack yesterday. [I] send condolences to the families and feel sorrow for their loss. There is no dispute here about supporting or opposing terror, since I state unequivocally that it must be fought against and it is necessary to do everything to ensure safety.”

She did not express remorse or reget for saying that the terrorists’ families deserve support. She condemned terrorism, but never backtracked on her egregious comments.

In response, the Likud said: “A few hours after the terrible attack in Tel Aviv, Bennett’s coalition member expresses support in the PA’s payments to terrorists. If anyone was searching for more proof why Bennett’s weak government cannot defeat terror, they received it today.”

These comments underscore the fact that the current government has been weak on terror and allowed this deadly wave to spiral out of control. They are partnered with Arab parties, and seem to crack down more on West Bank settlers and Charedim than on Muslim terror groups.

In addition, it should be noted that President Biden is complicit in the PA’s pay-to-slay funding. After President Trump defunded the Palestinians, Biden restored $225 million a year to what is essentially a terrorist regime disguised as a government. Once again, American taxpayers, including myself, are paying for terrorists to murder innocent Jews.

Many Democrats view the Palestinians as victims and consider Israel the bad guys. This insanity needs to stop. Gaby Lasky should be forced to resign, and hopefully, that will lead to either a crackdown on terror, or a new right-wing government, which knows who the bad guys are, and refuses to pander to terrorists for political reasons.
