JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Israel’s strained relations with Russia continued to deteriorate over the weekend after Foreign Minister Lapid condemned the Russian actions in Ukraine and called them “war crimes.” Lapid also supported a motion to suspend Russia from the UN’s Human Right’s Commission, a move which angered the Russians.

On Friday the Russians responded to Lapid’s statement by stating that “the condemnation was a poor attempt at exploiting the situation in Ukraine to divert international attention from one of the longest unsolved disputes- the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
The Russians added that despite numerous resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council and General Assembly, Israel continues its “illegal occupation and annexation of Palestinian lands and as a result of this more than 2.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank live in scattered enclaves cut off from the outside world.”
On Sunday the Russians summoned Israeli Ambassador to Russia Alex Ben-Zvi to clarify Israeli positions in the wake of the mutual barbs shared by the two countries. It is unclear if the summons was to officially reprimand the ambassador or to seek clarification of Israel’s positions.
KOL hakavod to Lapid. We need to speak the truth and not let politics get in the way.
Lapid is the stupidest Israeli politician ever.
Shame for Israel
