Vice President’s Spokesman Says Psagot Wine At Her Seder Is ‘Not Expression Of Policy’ On Judea And Samaria

NEW YORK (VINnews) —  Vice-President Kamala Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff posted pictures of their Seder, including a wine from the Psagot winery in Binyamin, raising questions regarding Harris’s positions on Judea and Samaria. In the past Harris has been a vociferous opponent of Jewish settlement in these regions, in accordance with Democratic party positions which view the settlements as obstacles to a peace agreement with Palestinians.

The Psagot winery made news in 2016 when it unsuccessfully sought to prevent labelling of wines from Judea and Samaria as originating in “an Israeli settlement.” The winery also released a wine blend named after former US secretary of state Mike Pompeo in 2020 after he repudiated a 1978 State Department legal opinion that said civilian settlements in the West Bank were “inconsistent with international law.”

Harris’s communications advisor Herbie Ziskend was quick to dispel any notion that her positions had changed regarding the issue of Judea and Samaria, stating curtly that “the wine served at the Seder was in no way intended to be an expression of policy.”

Pro-Palestinian Americans were not amused. James Zogby, the president of the Arab American Institute, responded that:

“Psagot’s vineyards are on stolen Palestinian land. It’s not cool.”
