FLORIDA (Yaakov M / VINnews) Unlike New York City, residents in one Florida county are allowed to shoot attackers in self-defense, without being charged with a crime.

One homeowner who shot a home invader in the head with an “AK-47-style gun” , will “absolutely not” face charges, a local sheriff said, according to Fox News.

(Had this taken place in New York City, the homeowner would probably be sitting in a Riker’s Island jail cell right now.)

“He started shooting for his own protection, to get them out of his house and to protect himself,” Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said.

According to reports, three thugs, one with a gun, invaded the home around midnight July 7. The homeowner pulled out a handgun from his waistband, but somehow dropped it.

Then he was able to run and grab an “AK-47-style gun,” while one of the suspects picked up the victim’s handgun.

The homeowner began firing at the invaders, who promptly fled the home.

One of the men suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound to the head. Two suspects have been identified, and although the identity of that suspect who was shot has not been confirmed, police believe they have located him.

“We get a report of a third individual that had a wound to the head not long after [the home invasion]. The stories he’s giving us as to how he got shot in the head are inconsistent at best. In short, we don’t believe him. So what we’re looking at is to determine whether this is the third person that was involved,” Simmons said.

Not surprisingly, one of the invaders has multiple active warrants, including carjacking, aggravated assaults with a firearm, robbery with a firearm and domestic violence battery.

Simmons was quite adamant that the homeowner would “absolutely not” face charges for shooting at the men.

“The homeowner’s protecting himself. And in Florida, in Escambia County, you can protect yourself,” he said.

Finally. A place in America where a criminal during the commission of a crime, may be targeted with lethal force. That should be an amendment to the Constitution. Instead, we have politicians who lack any shred of morality, who worship the rights of the criminals and seek to prosecute self defense. Thanks, Democrats, for eliminating morality for us. We will remember in November.
