Lee Zeldin Tweets Support of Yeshivas, Says NY State is on ‘Dangerous Road’

NEW YORK (VINnews) — Republican Lee Zeldin has blasted the state’s proposed secular studies guidelines for yeshivas. He also took a swipe at Governor Kathy Hochul, whose deafening silence has been a defacto victory for the Board of Regents and the groups attempting to invade yeshiva curriculums.

In a tweet, the Jewish gubernatorial candidate wrote: “I strongly oppose the “substantial equivalency” push in New York targeting Yeshivas and other non-public education. This is a dangerous road the state is going down here and @KathyHochul is MIA as usual on this topic, refusing to show even an ounce of courage or leadership.”

This is not the first time Zeldin has expressed support for yeshivas. In July, he attacked the proposals and praised the “high quality education” yeshivas offer. And in June he criticized the effort during a primary debate.

“The state is wrong to be pushing the substantial-equivalency standards,” Zeldin said at an event in July. “As we see here in Brooklyn, with yeshiva education, they’re providing a high-quality education for a lot of young boys and girls here in the community…And unfortunately, right now, they are attacking these private-school educations.”

He continued, “My mother was a fourth grade elementary teacher at a yeshiva in Brooklyn growing up, before she became a public-school teacher on Long Island. And I have found that the yeshiva education is a high-quality education that should be embraced, should be rewarded, and we should make life administering one of these schools easier, not harder.”

Governor Hochul, on the other hand, has refused to defend yeshivas. Despite receiving enormous support from the Charedi community, along with multiple endorsements by Rabbanim and askanim, the radical leftist governor has refused to take a position on the proposed regulations.

When asked about the proposal in April, Hochul dodged the question, saying that “the state Education Department operated 100% independently from the administration. It is not an agency that I have jurisdiction or oversight over. But I’m also listening to the concerns of the community and I’m taking them very seriously.”

It fascinates me how to this date klal yisroel in New York hasnt come out yet united to fully endorse Lee Zeldin. There are tens of thousands of orthodox Jews in NY that can vote… there are thousands of yeshiva bachurim 18+ that can vote…. time to put Lee Zeldin in office.

I’m very happy about Zeldin’s position on the proposed yeshiva regulations. I think that if you are against these regulations then you should vote for Zeldin because he will do whatever he can to prevent them from taking effect.

As a community, we need things/favors from government.
Government likes to grant things/favors to the people that elected them.
We shouldn’t ever come out 100% in favor of one side or the other, because if we’re supportive of the wrong side, we will have a tough time getting those things we’re trying for. If the person in government is someone we were vocally against, they’ll tell us to jump in the nearest lake. They won’t be beholden to us. The askanim won’t be able to say “Please do this for us–we helped you get elected”.

So the askanim have to support the incumbent if that individual is running again, regardless of how bad he/she is for the community. Don’t fault them for that. They are doing the proper hishtadlus. They need to be able to have access to that individual to address our community’s needs. They need to say “we supported you”. They’re doing the right thing.

What you do in the privacy of your ballot box, though, is your business.

Zeldin and his mother obviously don’t know the huge difference between a yeshiva girls’ school and a chasdishe boys’ school .

Raising generation after generation that cannot speak English and is forced to live on the dole is also dangerous.

How much will Zeldin the Trumper lose by? 800,000 votes? 900,000? Stick with him and learn.
