FLORIDA (Yaakov M /VINnews) — In a video posted on social media Thursday, Ben Shapiro blasted Kanye West over his recent vicious antisemitic tirades and social media posts.

Shapiro also said that he disagrees with fellow commentator Candace Owens’ defense of Kanye, although he appeared to sympathize with the black conservative’s position, since she is a friend of Kanye. (Owens is a staffer of “Daily Wire”, which is owned by Shapiro.)

Shapiro also suggested that since Kanye suffers from bipolar, his comments are not equal to Ilhan Omar’s antisemitic comments, although he made it clear that West’s mental illness still does not excuse his comments.

In a video Q & A session, Shapiro was asked about Kanye’s recent comments.

He replied: “I’ve made my thoughts pretty clear. What he said is antisemitic, there is no question about it, what he said is pure rote antisemitism, I don’t think it is possible to defend it.”

When asked about Owens’ defense of Kanye, Shapiro continued: “Candace and I disagree about a wide variety of topics, we battle it out…on a personal level I get Candace defending her friend…I don’t think her defense is convincing.”

Later in the video, Shapiro added: “The real answer is Kanye is a bipolar uiman being, and bipolar people tend to say ugly and bizarre things…there is a difference between someone cohesively saying what he said, and Kanye saying things in broken grammar…I am ont going to treat this the same as Ilhan Omar saying openly antisemitic stuff as a US congresswoman.”

Earlier this week, Shapiro tweeted against Kanye’s comments, making the observation that just because Kanye has expressed conservative views, does not mean that he is not an antisemite.

Shapiro wrote: “As usual, two things can be true at once: Kanye’s moves toward pro-life, faith, and family conservatism are encouraging; his “death con 3” posts and Black Hebrew Israelite language are clearly anti-Semitic and disturbing.”

Earlier this week on Twitter, Candace Owens wrote: “If you are an honest person, you did not think this tweet was antisemitic. You did not think that he wrote this tweet because he hates or wants to genocide Jewish people. This is not the beginning of a Holocaust.”

Shapiro is disingenuous here in multiple ways. First, bipolar people who aren’t anti-Semites don’t spout anti-Semitic hate. Second, Owens doesn’t have a problem with Ye’s coomments. Third, Shapiro’s praise for Ye’s other positions is trying to have things both ways. Hitler yemach shemo was also anti-abortion (for gentiles) and anti-Gay.

It shouldn’t be difficult to issue a simple condemnation of Ye’s horrible comments. Similarly it shouldn’t have been difficult for Tamika Mallory and Linda Sarsour to distance themselves from and condemn Louis Farrakhan. But none of them did.

Bringing up Omar and Tlaib is whatsboutism. We need to condemn antisemitism from both the Left and the Right.

His loyalty to his fellow Conservatives and MAGA followers seems to be stronger than his loyalty to his fellow Jews.

Candace Owens works for Ben Shapiro.

Candace Owens thinks what Hitler did was fine. “The problem is he wanted, he had dreams outside of Germany”

Ben Shapiro knew this and still hired her.

i always knew that candace is a narcissistic clown and she and Ben would clash at a certain point. Didn’t think it could come up this soon. She’ll be the death of the daily wire

So all I will say is that Ben Shapiro is going to have to take the flak(criticism) he is going to get from this. Ben Shapiro, effectively stated that of one of his employees supported statements that were clearly anti semtic and clearly morally wrong. Yet will not do anything about them. Just agree to disagree. To be fair in the other cases he mentions though are also morally wrong and of the same ilk yet he doesn’t pay their salaries or have any power to cause a change. He can only say it was wrong. In this case he could have acted and did nothing. (Or he effectively (but really implicitly) admitted he has no power on the daily wire so any talk of being for example “Michael Knowles” or other host’s boss is a lie. So did Jeremy stand for this? Is he the real boss?! (Daily Wire Conspiracy aside this is a real issue))

Rabbi Sacks warnings on anti semitism being a threat to everyone seems to have been ignored. Also Ben’s ideas on American Jewry being a lighthouse and not going noah’s ark that used to be a conversation topic are now revealed to be hypocritical. As when he could be a lighthouse he goes full noah’s ark. At the very least and this is on a proper pr level he could have said we (me and Jeremy (other co-owner)) are going to have a talk with her. Even more than that condemn the statements, support the movie saying I reviewed it and it contains no objectionable content, and state she will be going on a quick course to properly know what’s antisemitic. Done by the institution of your choice. Like the Simon Weisenthal center (because of the left wing/ anti-religion (believing your religion is the true faith like Judaism requires of it’s adherents)/pluralistic heretical nature of the ADL (As demonstarted by David Klinghoffer an orthodox jew in his book “Why the jews rejected Yashke”)).

So the logic of Ben Shapiro is apparently as follows:

It is OK for friends (Candace Owens) to defend their antisemitic friends (Kayne West) and claim that they are not antisemitic when they really are.

It is OK for friends of these friends (Ben Shapiro) to defend the friend who defends antisemitic comments (Candace Owens) and continue to give her a public platform on his site

Ben Shapiro cannot claim to stand up against antisemitism when he cowardly refuses to condemn Candace Owens, makes excuses for Kayne and doesnt call out Tucker Carlson.

Sadly for all too many Trunpism is the most important value. If one is an antisemite but is a MAGA Trumpian than his actions can always be excused.
