JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In another seemingly senseless act of violence by Israeli police stationed at the Western Wall plaza, an American avreich was arrested, handcuffed and humiliated after he banged on the door and mirror of a bus whose driver had closed the door in his face.

Surveillance camera footage of the incident show that the avreich was about to ascend on the bus when the driver closed the door in his face. The irate avreich banged on the door and mirror of the bus. The driver stopped the bus, claimed that the man had broken his mirror and demanded payment from him. The avreich said that there was no damage and sat down in the bus, whereupon the driver called police.
When police came the avreich refused to identify himself, claiming he was an American citizen and had done no offense. Police insisted that he identify himself before he was detained or he would be arrested. When the avreich refused to identify himself, police arrested him and when he protested that a female policeman was detaining him, one of the policemen sprayed him with pepper spray. The avreich was eventually forcibly arrested.
Police later claimed that the avreich had attacked the female policeman and lightly injured her, but the footage taken by bystanders proves that he merely protested being arrested by a woman. The avreich was sprayed, handcuffed and arrested in humiliating fashion, despite his protests that he had done no criminal offense.
I completely believe this guy that got the door slammed in his face. Many bus drivers in Israel, both Israeli and especially Arab drivers, are shtik drek! Just being in E.Y. for about 2 weeks and you see it all over the place. They could care less about you and treat you like garbage. They start driving while the doors are still open and people are still getting on or off the bus, even to those with young children and baby strollers. Such lowlives! It’s really shocking.
The American mentality of constitutional freedoms doesn’t apply in Israel. That being said the police there are barbaric.
Oh please he was wrong by refusing to identify himself. You don’t refuse police especially when you are being accused of a crime even if minor. And being an American is no excuse for bad behavior
All this could’ve been avoided had he not lost his temper and banged on the bus door. Or afterwards, just listened to the police and given his ID.
Why can’t people act with basic decency.
He did not attack the female police officer in the footage. If anything, he was trying to avoid contact with her. This is not a major event but the Israeli police just never seem to be impressive.
Police looked pretty ridiculous.
The kosel bus stop often has a “last chopper out of Saigon” feel to it. People think they need to push and shove. If you wait politely you don’t get on. Seems like both the driver and the avreich share fault. During busy times they really need more buses on that route.

That is not true. The video shows clearly that the door started closing before he was at its steps. People should view the video on Twitter.
Furthermore, it was not an Egged type large bus, it was some kind of minivan type of thing.

This doesn’t have any appearance of police brutality. Where is the video of him banging on the bus? If this were a black man in downtown Detroit, we would all see that the police are properly doing their job to maintain law and order. It’s very simple, comply with the instruction of police or get arrested.

Israeli law requires all individuals age 16 and up to carry identification – and allows police to ask for.this ID for any reason or no reason at all. This is different from the law in the US – but the fact that this genius is American doesn’t change the fact that Israeli law applies to him while he’s in Israel. Israel is its own country with its own enforceable laws – not some Jewish-themed Disneyland where the rules aren’t “real”.

He acted like an idiot. refusing to identify himself was arrogance combined with stupidity as well as disrespect for the country. He should be ordered to leave the country and not allowed back in.
