NEW YORK (VINnews/Sandy Eller) – New York State may have had its share of difficulties in the last two years, but those thinking of ditching the Empire State for greener pastures might want to reconsider after a streak of lottery windfalls from local stores that has left winners counting their blessings.

Two recent big Powerball winners were sold at the Smokes 4 Less store on Newburgh’s North Plank Road. A second prize ticket in the November 5th drawing was purchased at the store and is valued at just over $1 million, while New York’s only big winner in the November 1st drawing was purchased at the same location and is valued between $1 and $2 million dollars.

A Smokes 4 Less store in Fishkill made headlines last summer after a string of big wins that spanned a year, reported W101.5 WPDH (https://bit.ly/3zIQEjJ). Those wins included a Cash4Life player who is receiving $1,000 a day for life, a Pick 10 winner who received $500,000 and a $1 million Powerball winner.

Another seemingly fortuitous location in New York appeared to be West Hempstead’s Bolla market, located on Hempstead Avenue. Malverne-Lynbrook Patch (https://bit.ly/3DN197c) reported that two winning Mega Millions tickets for the November 1st drawing were sold in the store, the second prize numbers bringing in $1 million each to their owners.

The wave of lucky tickets has also made its way to the five boroughs. As previously reported on VIN News, a second prize-winning Cash4Life ticket was sold at Remedies Pharmacy in Williamsburg. The as yet unnamed winner is expected to received $1,000 a week for life.

Do you seriously think that the minute chance of winning a lottery ticket should affect someone’s decision on where to live?? The quality of life in Baltimore or Florida is so much higher than it is in New York
