Security cameras showed a black SUV making a U-turn after spotting the soldier walking towards the sidewalk. The car rammed into the woman before driving off and fleeing the scene.
United Hatzalah EMT Menachem Leff was on scene within minutes and treated the woman, who was fully conscious but suffering from severe head trauma. The medic staunched the bleeding with trauma bandages, immobilized the woman’s head and placed a neck brace to prevent further damage.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service said it transferred her to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek hospital with a serious head injury. The hospital said that her condition was stable.
IDF soldiers chased the terrorist and shot him, mortally injuring him. He died later in hospital.
The terrorist was named as 45-year-old Rani Mamoun Fayz Abu Ali, a father of five from the town of Beitunia. The report said he had previously worked at the Rami Levy supermarket and had a valid permit to work in the Binyamin region.
The attack came as tensions were high in the region after two brothers from a village near Ramallah were eliminated during clashes with IDF soldiers.
It’s high time we rid ourselves of these vermin.
