During the last day, Netanyahu has been busy meeting the 32 Likud MKs and offering them positions. One of the key positions, Israel’s foreign minister, remains open since Yisrael Katz refused Netanyahu’s offer of a rotation with MK Eli Cohen, with Cohen serving as minister during the first period. Katz is not the only disgruntled Likud member, since David Amsalem, a strong supporter of Netanyahu, has not been offered a ministry. Danny Danon, Gila Gamliel and David Bitan are other MKs who did not receive ministerial positions and could demonstrate opposition to Netanyahu during the current government.
The two Yamina defectors who joined Likud, Amichai Chikli and Idit Silman, have been rewarded with ministerial positions. Chikli will be minister of the Diaspora and Social Equality while Silman will serve as Environment Minister.
Yoav Galant, a former IDF General and head of Southern Command, will be Defense Minister. Yoav Kisch, a former Israeli pilot, will receive the Education Ministry [although certain departments will be controlled by Noam’s Avi Maoz]. Miri Regev will return to the Transport Ministry, Ofer Akonis will also return to the Science and Technology ministry, while MK Miki Zohar will be Culture and Sport minister.
Former Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat will serve as Economic Affairs minister. Barkat, a former hi-tech entrepeneur, is the wealthiest member of Knesset and has refused to take a salary since joining the Knesset in 2019. Chaim Katz, a former Israel Aircraft Industries Union leader, will be Minister of Tourism.
Yariv Levin, who served as temporary Knesset Speaker, will be Justice Minister, while Shlomo Kari, a religious Likud MK, will head the Communications Ministry. Former Shin Bet head Avi Dichter will be Minister of Agriculture, as farmers hope that Dichter will help protect them against the rampant agricultural theft.
Yuli Edelstein, another religious Likud member, will head the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs And Defense Committee.
The Likud still holds a number of other ministerial positions including Energy Minister (which may rotate with the foreign ministry) and the Ministry of Intelligence.
We should daven for their hatzlacha. May Moshiach come speedily in our day.
besides the toeiva speaker the rest of these appointments seem semi good, its made up of alot of leeches that never had a job in their life spending OTHER peoples money, but at least they will spend less on terrorists and importing Cossacks.
