JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The US cold shoulder towards senior members of the right-wing in the Israeli cabinet has taken a new dimension after the events in Hawara last Sunday and Betzalel Smotrich’s apparent call to “wipe out” Hawara.

Even prior to Smotrich’s statement, the US administration in the US had been planning to pointedly ignore his trip to the US. No political meetings were scheduled for Israel’s finance minister in Washington. However in the wake of Smotrich’s declaration, US officials were considering whether to even give Smotrich a visa to enter the country.
Smotrich backtracked on his statements over the weekend, stating that “If they had played my entire remarks, you would have heard that I was talking about how Hawara is a hostile village that has become a terrorist outpost from which terrorist operations are launched every day, of rock throwing and shooting against Jews, but it is forbidden in any way to take the law into one’s own hands.”
“I said that I support a disproportionate response by the IDF and the security forces to every act of terrorism. For every rock – the closing of shops at the scene, for every firebomb – the arrests and deportation of the families of the terrorists, for every nest of terror – a closure and the collection of a painful price until the terrorists and their supporters realize that the blood of our children is not cheap and that terrorism is not profitable. This is the way to deal with terrorism and, God forbid, to prevent the next victims.”
Despite Smotrich’s clarification, US officials remained noncommittal and even openly antagonistic towards Smotrich’s visit. US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides reportedly said that “He has a flight to Washington, and if I could, I would throw him off the plane.” Nides also allegedly said that “I am really angry with him. He is a fool.” The US Embassy in Israel would initially not comment on the report, but later denied Nides had made these comments.
When BLM rooted we were told the cops had to stand back because they were venting their frustrations, but if Jews vent after 50 years of civilian killings by terrorists that’s terrible to the American liberal politicians. What hypocrites.
The US has no idea what it takes to deal with terrorists and terrorism. The only policy that is effective is the heavy hand of justice coming down on all of those who endorse, enable or ignore the breeding of terrorists.
Nides is a fool.
Hey there Mr. SNIDE Commenter, YOU weren’t elected by the people! YOU are not held accountable for the lost lives by terror and thirdly, YOU WERE NOT HEARD FROM,when Jews were killed. Shut up and go serve your anti Semitic president – the 44th president’s protégé.
Tom Nides should be charged with making threats against a foreign minister
Try saying that against any “African American….”.
Liberals are going crazy because Smotrich hit a nerve , I love him just for that.
Nides. You are a FOOL. If the USA had a city like Hawara no doubt you would go in and clean it up. You are a hater of HASHEM (well that’s a given) Your liberal mind messed you up or perhaps you were messed up from the day you were born.
Another clown from the sleepy Biden ( בה דין) administration
Nides is an anti Israel pali terror regime supporter.
Just another pompous, self promotin Jack ***.
Why anybody pays a any attention to this irrelevant, inconsequential jerk is beyond me
One person gets mad when innocent children are brutally murdered by terrorists.
Another person gets mad that the first person got mad.
Nides should be snubbed out in Israel too. Oh how I miss Trump
Another tempest in a borsht pot. It will be forgotten by Tuesday.
While Smotrich is an idiot for saying what he did, true or not, the fact is Nides is a bigger idiot for talking when he doesn’t understand the terrorism that Israelis have to live with daily. The fact is that like I said smotrich shouldn’t have said what he said, but that becomes a reaction when you feel choked every day by these barbarian terrorists.
And this man is supposed to be a diplomat.
On the other hand par for the course for a Biden appointee.
Nides like all diplomats parrots what he is told to parrot. Tomorrow he will speak with contrition and qualify his statement.
If Israel had any backbone, they’d send him to a time-out back home. Of course there’d be repercussions, but we have those all the time from our “ally”… because we exist.
Angry frustration begetting abuse fantasies…
Nides’ comment is a sentiment that clearly betrays:
He feels powerless in the face of Betzalel with no recourse (especially since Reb Betzalel is a Finance Minister not the Foreign Minister or Israeli Amb).
He is oblivious that this is consuming him and causing him to sink into his own oblivion.
Run your graggers!!!!!
The left, when they hate, they talk violence. Where is the diplomatic glove. No one was thrown off plains from any other country, including the presidend from Iran.
Hasn’t the left been lectruding that we need to ‘speak’ to our advesaries?
nides is allowed to throw smotrich off the plane but smotrich is not allowed to say that he wants to get wipe a terrorist stronghold off the map…?
Cant attack the innocent with the guilty. Understand the outrage of the people and them going after the town as a knee jerk reaction, however it was wrong. A minister has to be level headed, and the people under the protection of the gov’t MUST be protected.
Remember when the govt’s did not protect us from the people that went after us – as we are the ones that killed their God.I am happy what the US is doing to him. No one from the Jewish community should meet with him either.
Unfortunately, this is the kind of people running the Israeli govt today. Note what is happening – not long before they break up Israeli society and a frum person will be scared to walk through a chloni neighborhood. It happened before and we need to be vigilant about these things happing again. We must be responsible
