    UPDATED:

We need $30,000 of it by Monday, before the lawyer appears before the judge.

There is an incarcerated frum individual from the Five Towns/Far Rockaway community who has struggled with addictions and has made some poor choices. He has been there for 8 weeks and is facing several years in jail and is currently in Riker’s Island.

Boruch Hashem, the judge will allow a rehab program in lieu of further jail time. Insurance,, however cannot cover it. It is a program where a frum person can succeed. The lawyer, Mr. Charles Miller, has done a remarkable job (as always) but there is a small balance as well. Whatever you can do here is a huge Mitzvah.

This Pidyon shvuyim has the endorsement of Rav Eitan Feiner shlita, Rabbi Yair Hoffman, Rav Herschel Ausch shlita, Rav Yisroel Dovid Harfenes shlita, and Rav Elya Brudny shlita

My good friend, R’ Yair Hoffman, can be relied upon for his research in this matter Rav Elya Brudny (shlita)

Rav Harfenes further stated that whosoever is mekayem genuine Pidyon Shvuyim will be zoche to so many brachos of geulah – especially before Pesach.  He also pointed out that whoever saves just one life – it is as if he has saved the entire world.

If this is a REAL case of Pidyon Shvuim according to the Rabaim who say as such. Are THEY depleting their bank accounts and pockets to help this unfortunate individual ?? Just saying…

Reb Hoffman, please do an article on Evan Gershovich, the JEWISH news reporter just arrested and thrown into a KGB gulag jail for “spying” for America. What does Talmud say about unjustified political incarceration?

Why shouldn’t Trump pay from his own pocket.

My son was held for eleven months in jail in Israel. He is accused of being part of a group of 15 bochrim, one of whom threw a rock and lightly injured an arab in the head. The police have not identified any of the other bochrim, so they’ve come down on my son, who is mamash a tzaddik and talmid chachom. So far the prosecution has failed to present any evidence in court, yet they’ve managed to hold him this whole time without possiblity of bail, falsely claiming he’s a national security threat (he has no prior felony convictions). The supreme court ordered the lower court to release him to an alternative restrictive place (similar to house arrest). We are in debt with legal fees, and still need to pay more to get his restrictions eased so that he could be in a decent yeshiva, and be allowed to travel to work. In addition to the legal fees, we are currently paying three thousand shekels a month for the private alternative facilities. The rabbonim that are supporting our fund drive can be found here:

    To the choshuve rabbanim involved,
WHO is taking achrayus that the indivisual posts no threat to the public? Why is it an open clear cut case of pidyon shvuyim when an indivisual does dangerous things that land him in jail. why should we use tzeddaka to free him? If for some reason the rabbonim declare him an ones for being under the influence should we let murderers go free. give an explanation how he will be “controlled” in the future.

Rabbi Yair Hoffman responds: The main issue is that he didnt finish his previous rehab program and had to plead guilty to something extreme. This was utter stupidity. Furthermore, the other individual involved was extremely drunk and had gone to him. He is also attending rehab and he was a fine person beforehand. He seems normal now too. This is mandated inpatient therapy and then outpatient. 7 to 20 is well beyond the halacha.
