He had a criminal record but no security record and had worked previously as a cleaner at an Israeli high school . The terrorist was neutralized by a police officer who was near the scene.

In response to the escalation in terrorist attacks, including the deadly attack in the Jordan Valley Friday wPrime Minister Netanyahu has announced a call-up of Border Police reserves

MDA senior EMT Yosef Curdi, the first to arrive at the scene, reported: “Upon arrival, I saw an overturned vehicle , and adjacent to it lay a 17-year-old girl who had been hit by the car and was suffering from blunt force injuries to her head, abdomen, and limbs. After initial medical treatment, an MDA ambulance conveyed her to the Ichilov medical center in moderate condition. About 200 meters north on the promenade, an unconscious man was suffering from various injuries, he was without a pulse and not breathing, and after assessing his situation, we pronounced him dead. Additional MDA teams arrived at the scene and provided medical treatment to an additional four injured people also hit by the car, in moderate and mild condition”.

The other people injured in the incident were also tourists, of Italian and British extraction.

MDA EMT Yarin Mualem described the condition of the injured: “We had scanned the promenade and Dolphinarium parking lot when police officers stopped us and brought me to a 50-year-old male, fully conscious, suffering from head and limb injuries. I provided him with initial medical treatment and conveyed him to the Wolfson Hospital in mild condition. Another man with him was suffering from stress symptoms”.

The US State Department published the following response to the attack: “The United States strongly condemns today’s terrorist attacks in the West Bank and Tel Aviv. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones and wish a full recovery to the injured. The three horrific attacks today, in which three were killed and at least eight others wounded, affected citizens of Israel, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The targeting of innocent civilians of any nationality is unconscionable. The United States stands with the government and people of Israel. We are in close contact with our Israeli partners and reaffirm our enduring commitment to their security”.

Upon completing an operational situation assessment this evening (Saturday), Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant instructed the defense establishment to allocate resources and IDF troops to reinforce police forces. The forces will be deployed by the professional echelon.

In addition, Minister Gallant decided to further expand the closure on Judea and Samaria and to close the crossings along the Gaza border until after the second holiday of Pesach (overnight between Wednesday and Friday).

The closure also includes canceling civilian measures that were approved before Ramadan and the entrance of workers to Israel.
