Ben Shapiro Rips ‘Egregious’ Comments on CNN Saying Members of Dee Family Killed in ‘Shootout’

FLORIDA (VINnews) — On Thursday, orthodox Jewish podcast host Ben Shapiro slammed CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, who inaccurately claimed that three members of the Dee family (HY”D) were killed in a “shootout”.

Lucy Dee and two of her daughters, Maia and Rina, were gunned down while driving in their car on Pesach by Islamic terrorists.

In response, Shapiro tweeted the video and wrote: “Amanpour has always been an anti-Israel propagandist. This is just the most egregious example.”

In addition to Shapiro, the website “Honest Reporting” was critical of the comments, tweeting: “According to @CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, three members of the Dee family “were killed in a shootout.”

“A shootout is two sides firing at each other. A mother & her two daughters were shot at close range by Palestinian terrorists. @amanpour, you owe a grieving family an apology.”

On April 10, Amanpour’s opening remarks in an interview with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh included this:

“We have a young 15-year-old Palestinian boy who’s been shot and killed by security — Israeli security forces. We also have the mother of two sisters, Israeli British sisters. They were — they were killed in a shootout, and now the mother has died of her injury — injuries.”

Although it was aired a month ago, the clip was apparently first shared widely on social media on Thursday of this week.

In the weeks since the clip was aired, there has been no report of an apology or retraction by CNN or Amanpour.
