JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The level of anti-charedi rhetoric in the secular media in Israel the wake of the current government’s reforms has led to a feeling of unease even for regular charedim who reside in secular neighborhoods. In recent weeks there has been a rise in verbal abuse and vituperation, and some of these incidents have been recorded.

A chareidi riding a bus in Hod Hasharon, a predominantly secular town, was admonished by another rider for not doing army service. When he enquired how the woman had concluded that he had not served in the IDF, she responded that he was wearing chareidi clothes. Little did she know that she was talking with Captain Yonatan Hirsch, a Belzer chassid who is also a lawyer and IDF officer.

Despite this, the woman remained unapologetic and Hirsch told her that she was degrading herself with her actions and should be ashamed of herself. The woman later spoke to the media, claiming that ” I have antipathy to chareidim, they have ten children and I’m afraid of them, they have no place here.”

Shas leader Aryeh Deri responded to the clip, stating that “We’re not embarrassed by our kippah or peos or our identity. We’re proud to be able to live as Jews in Israel. Those who incite should be ashamed.”

National Union head Benny Gantz said that the clip was “wrenching” since “It doesn’t matter where a person served or if he served or who he prays too- we are all brothers. I hope that the woman will find a way to apologize and he will find a way to forgive her.”

Journalist Yishai Cohen said that “she doesn’t care that the chareidi didn’t do the army, she cares that he’s wearing a kippah, that’s the whole story.”

I believe there is a Gemora in maseches pesachim that says the hate of amei orotzim for talmidei chachomim is greater than the hate of the Goyim against B’nai Yisroel.
This womans statements prove this.

Remember, they’re not frum “yet”. We have to love those that hate us and hate those that love us. Transgender liberalism is our new torah. Erev rav on their last legs.

All the armchair generals love giving their opinion like they know anything about what its like on the ground, but all those who live in America know very little what its like in Israel. If you are real Israeli Charedi – you would not be on VIN writing your comments!

She is right to be afraid although she chose the wrong time and place to express it.

What thinking person would not be afraid? If current demographic trends continue who will serve in the IDF? Who will work and pay taxes? Who will run the power plants and municipal services?

Today’s Chareidi ethos is a direct challenge to the survival of the state and is not sanctioned by the Torah or Chazal. It brings all Torah Jews into disrepute and is an unprecedented Chillul Hashem given that it is led by the very people who claim to represent, cherish and defend the Torah.

The real problem is that the frummer community by a large do not participate with society they do not join the army and defend their home land against their common enemy and in many communities they back those that would kill them Maybe just maybe we caused this split.

Okay so you got one in 500.
Let me ask you 3 question simply put
How many boys from Ponivitz served in the army?
How many boys from Vishnitz served in the army?
How many boys from Toldos Aharon served in the army?
Not time to pat yourself on the back yet – He got her good.

I don’t get this whole debacle. Aren’t we teaching our kids to hate the secular ? Of course we are, and how. So what’s the big grievance that they hate us ? It goes both ways.
