JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Knesset approved Wednesday a bill submitted by MK Tzvi Sukkot (Religious Zionism) which amends the Counterterrorism Law and states that one who publishes words of praise, sympathy, or encouragement for terrorists can be punished with up to five years of jail time.

The bill was passed with a majority of 33 for to 7 against.

During the deliberations, a storm erupted in the Knesset plenum when MK Ayman Odeh (Hadash) stated in regard to the IDF operation in Jenin: “Every action has a reaction. There’s a reaction to the occupation, and that’s the resistance. Long live the Jenin Refugee Camp! Contempt for you!”.

Odeh was heckled by several MKs, including Almog Cohen (Jewish Force) who said that “the blood of those murdered is on your hands, go to Gaza,” and added that “the more terrorists we kill the better”.

MK Zvi Sukkot called Odeh a “terrorist in a suit”, adding that “He’ll find himself in jail and his friends need to be expelled to Syria.” MK May Golan (Likud) attacked Odeh, stating that “an MK stood at the podium and called for attacking Israeli citizens. His immunity must be stripped.”

In the end Odeh was removed from the plenum, after the ruckus nearly came to physical blows.

The proposed bill states that the Counterterrorism Law currently prohibits solidarity with an act of terror or a terror organization, but the law’s clauses do not supply law enforcement with tools against one who publishes words of praise and sympathy for a terrorist who carries out an attack. The bill seeks to fix this and establish that one who shows solidarity with a terrorist, for instance, on social media, could be punished with up to five years of jail time.

Additionally, the bill discontinues the need to prove the incitement’s influence.

According to the current law, in order to convict a suspect under this clause, there is a need to prove that the praise could cause additional acts of terror, and the requirement for such proof caused a lot of red tape and difficulty when convicting inciters. MK Sukkot’s bill’s explanation states: “Due to the severity of expressing solidarity or sympathy for an act of terror or its perpetrators, it is proposed to stop the probability test that is required today. The support and solidarity with terror are not protected by freedom of speech, they are severe by themselves irrespective of the consequences they may bring.”

MK Tzvi Sukkot commented following the bill’s approval: “Now, when terror is striking with might, we need to strengthen the justice system’s ability to fight the incitement without entering the world of probability. Giant signs praising terrorists and posts on social media influence the next terrorist, and there is no need to prove if, as a result of this specific sign, someone will go and murder Jews. Freedom of speech does not include freedom of incitement, we must beef up enforcement against incitement to stop the next terror attacks. This is a historic day which strengthens law enforcement and gives it tools to really fight terror.”

If Ayman Odeh hates Israel so much, and he has such a high opinion of the Palestinian Authority, then he should leave Israel as-soon-as-possible, and go to live in the so-called “Palestinian Authority”.

But he will never do that, because he knows that Arabs who live in Israel have more rights and better lives than Arabs who live in the so-called “Palestinian Authority”.

Allowing Arabs to vote in Israel is a big mistake.

Allowing Arabs to become members of Knesset is an even bigger mistake.

Send ALL of the so-called “Palestinians” to China;
they know how to deal with Muslim terrorists,
they know much better than Jews do.

Kudos to MK Sukkot for calling out MK Odeh. One who supports terrorism is a terrorist. An important addendum. As we see from these threads there are individuals whose hatred of Zionism completely colors their thinking. They cite dubious quotes from Gedolim and play the Herzl was an atheist card. What they conveniently forget to mention is that a significant percentage of present day Zionists are fully observant Jews including, Nebach, the Chayal who was killed yesterday. Shove that in your pipe and smoke it.

Arabs can have the right to live in Israel but they should not have the right to vote. The way foreigners don’t have a right to vote in every Arab country. I repeat every single Arab country does not allow foreigners or Jews or Israelis to vote. Israel has to allign itself with the democracies of the Middle East .
Odeh would not be sitting in the Knesset telling everyone to drop dead.
