Thanedar said that he “can no longer associate with an organization that refuses to call out terrorism in all its forms.”
Earlier this week, Thanedar was the only one out of the six Democrats in Congress affiliated with the DSA to condemn a disgraceful statement by the association which condemned Israel and defended the Hamas terror attack. Thanedar ripped the statement as having nothing to do with socialism.
“This is classic antisemitic rhetoric. What the DSA missed here is that this is a terrorist attack, the biggest murdering of Jewish people since the Holocaust,” Thanedar told The Federalist. “I am not very proud of the DSA at this time as a member of that organization.”
“For the DSA to be supportive of a terrorist organization and such a barbaric terrorist attack is just unbelievable, and I want no part of that,” Thanedar added. “That’s not progressive. That’s not socialism. That’s just totally irresponsible hatred against Jews and towards the state of Israel.
Then on Wednesday he tweeted a statement officially renouncing his membership.
