Ravid quoted two sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

Barnea’s trip to Doha reportedly took place after the recent ground operation started. Qatar is currently the main mediator between Israel and Hamas in talks about hostage release.

Hamas told Qatari officials it is still in the process of finding out where all the hostages are located and their identities. However Israelis suspect that this was just a tactic to stall or prevent an Israeli ground operation.

Axios says that Barnea resumed the hostage talks, which two sources said were positive and constructive but haven’t led to a breakthrough.
