(VINnews) — A Hamas spokesman admitted in a TV interview that the terrorist group built tunnels beneath Gaza to protect its own terrorists, not Palestinian civilians.

Although it’s not a shocker to many of us, it does confirm what we already know–Hamas only cares about their civilians if it can help give them protection.
Appearing on “Russia Today”, Mousa Abu Marzouk said that it was not Hamas’s job to protect Gazan citizens, but rather that of Israel and the UN.
The stunning admission by a Hamas representative — who has been allowed to publish op-eds in western newspapers such as The Guardian — proves what Israel keeps emphasizing.
Interviewer: “Many people are asking: Since you have built 500 kilometers of tunnels, why haven’t you built bomb shelters, where civilians can hide during bombardment?”
Marzouk: “We have built the tunnels because we have no other way of protecting ourselves from being targeted and killed. These tunnels are meant to protect us from the airplanes. We are fighting from inside the tunnels.
The interview was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), which said:
Mousa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau said in an October 27, 2023 interview that aired on Russia Today TV that the tunnels in Gaza were built to protect Hamas fighters from airstrikes, not civilians. He added that Hamas fights Israel from within the tunnels. Abu Marzouq added that since 75% of the residents in the Gaza Strip are refugees, it is the responsibility of the United Nations to protect them. He added that according to the Geneva Conventions, it is the responsibility of the “occupation” to provide civilians in Gaza “will all the services,” as long as they are under occupation.
Gaza has not been under “occupation” since 2005, when Israel completely withdrew from the territory.
Is anyone surprised? Hamas believe in murder. Murder anyone in the name of killing Jews is allowed.
This Hamas spokesman said that the “occupier must provide all services during an occupation.”
NEWSFLASH: You haven’t been “occupied” since 2005. Get with the program, Hamas, and serve your citizens. Oh, wait – they seem fine with the current arrangement. Never mind.
Hamas, never claimed that their tunnels, are safe space for the people of Gaza, it’s for the Hamas fighters, like rats, crawling out from the cesspool’s.
