Trend At Charedi Weddings: Meni Mamtera, Song Used To Befuddle Hamas Terrorists

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — One humorous story to emerge from the macabre details of the October 7th massacres is associated with Meni Mamtera, a repetitive children’s song  sung by a singer called Meni Tzukerl.

The kiddie song, describing a water sprinkler (Mamtera) named Meni who is the Matara (target), was used in a most original manner to break the resilience of Hamas prisoners captured during the attacks. Apparently the repetitiveness of the song, which according to security operatives was played to terrorists for 8 hours on end, enabled the Shin Bet both to prevent them talking with one another and to drive them to distraction in a way which brought them to reveal important intelligence information. This information was later used in the Israel attacks on Gaza and saved many lives.

A clip from the terrorists listening to the song quickly went viral in Israel, as brokenhearted Israelis sought something to laugh about in the wake of the attacks, especially when they saw one of the terrorists moving according to the tune.

However the story also gave birth to a trend at Charedi weddings where Meni Mamtara was sung joyously. At one such recent wedding Meni Tzukerl himself, suddenly a national celebrity, danced with the choson and his friends as Roli and Yoli Dickman sang his tune.

At another wedding the participants simulated the terrorists, sitting blindfolded and listening to the song.

Why are ‘mature’ individuals playing terrorist? I am Charedi and I don’t find it funny. I find it highly disrespectful to those fighting on the front lines.

Let’s be don l’kaf zchus. The yidden in EY are living under such fear and stress, that if shtick with this song makes them laugh, it’s the best medicine. (I admit – I laughed!)

This whole article is inappropriate.

From disclosure of interrogation tactics, to pointing out the really low frivolities at religious weddings… bizarre and ill timed. Israel is at war … a little כובד ראש .

Should have tormented the prisoners with Yoko Ono music. It’s been effective for over 50 years by armies worldwide.

Aljazeera yemach shemom and many other sites are claiming that israelis are mocking palestinian detainees. No mention that they are terrorists. And the world takes their bait yet again

This is already all over social media. The people doing this play right into the hands of those that hate us. They provide ammunition to antisemites and put yidden at risk.

I wonder how y’all would feel if you saw clips from a wedding in Gaza or say Detroit where wedding attendees were dancing with dolls with heads removed?

I can’t say I feel bad for Hamas terrorists, but filming them with glee is kinda a bad look during what is increasingly a martial PR war. I don’t even know if I can condemn Israeli’s for memeing, traumatized as they were at the time. But man, do we really need this article?

Anyway, see you all on CNN and Twitter when people finally catch on to what’s being shared on frum social media…
