Biden made the confirmation Tuesday, while speaking to reporters traveling with him in Washington, D.C. “I didn’t get a chance to talk to him today. I did ask him for a pause in the past — yesterday. Still waiting to hear,” the president said before his words became inaudible.
The comments came shortly after a report in Axios stating that the president asked Netanyahu for a three-day pause, to allow for more hostages to be released.
Biden said during a campaign speech last week that he believed there should be a “humanitarian pause” in the fighting.
Netanyahu has flatly rejected the idea of a ceasefire without the release of hostages, however he said that Israel has made brief ‘tactical pauses’.
