During the operation, the soldiers waged a battle with terrorists belonging to the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror groups both above ground and in underground tunnels.
The IDF forces completed the takeover of the Hamas post after ten hours of fighting during which they eliminated terrorists, confiscated many weapons, and exposed tunnel shafts, including one which was located near a preschool and which led to a wide underground path.
In one instance, IDF soldiers found a weapons manufacturing operation including attack drones, rockets and other weapons in the room adjacent to a children’s bedroom, demonstrating how Hamas uses civilian lodgings as a shield for its military activities.
During the takeover, Nahal Brigade forces also located and collected significant operative material on the Hamas terrorists’ operations plans.
