IDF Names 6 Soldiers Killed In Weekend Fighting, 1 Dies From Oct. 7th Wounds

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — BDE: As fierce fighting continues both in northern and southern Gaza as IDF soldiers continue to attack and conquer key Hamas strongholds in Jabalya, Sejaiya and Khan Unis, six soldiers have been killed in the battles.

The IDF announced Friday the deaths of two soldiers. On Saturday night the deaths of five other IDF soldiers, one of whom died of injuries sustained in the October 7th brutal Hamas attack on Israel.

Master Sergeant (Res.) Naftali Yonah Gordon, 32, from Jerusalem, a soldier in the 53rd Battalion of the 188th “Barak” Armored Brigade. Gordon, a physiotherapist in the Ramat Eshkol branch of the Klalit HMO, is survived by a wife and two daughters.

Sergeant First Class (Res.) Omri Rot, 25, from Katzrin, a tank commander in the 53rd Battalion of the 188th “Barak” Armored Brigade, fell in battle in northern Gaza.

Master sergeant (res.) Liav Atiya, age 25 from Be’er Sheva, fought in Battalion 6623 of the 55th Paratroopers Brigade, and fell in battle in southern Gaza.

Master sergeant (res.) Omri Ben Shachar, age 25 from Givatayim, fought in Battalion 6623 of the 55th Paratroopers Brigade, and fell in battle in southern Gaza.

Sergeant Maor Cohen Eisenkot, age 19 from Eilat, fought in Battalion 12 of the Golani Brigade, and fell in battle in southern Gaza. Cohen is a cousin of Gal Eizenkot, the son of former Chief of Staff Gabi Eizenkot, who was killed Thursday in the same region.

Staff sergeant Yonatan Dean Haim, age 25 from Ramat Gan, fought in the Engineering battalion 603 of Brigade 7, and fell in battle in southern Gaza.

Staff sergeant Haim Meir Eden, age 20 from Rehovot, fought in Battalion 13 of the Golani Brigade and died on Saturday, December 9, of his wounds, after he was severely injured on October 7.

The IDF says that it is close to taking control of Jabalya, where hundreds of terrorists have been killed and tens have surrendered to IDF forces. The Sejaiya neighborhood is also close to being controlled by IDF forces, while Khan Unis is surrounded by the IDF but Hamas units still remain active there.
