Journalist Motti Kastel from Israel’s channel 14 was taken in a Namer, a type of advanced APC, to the battlefield in Gaza where he interviewed soldiers and documented the destruction, including what remains of the home of Yahya Sinwar in the city.

The APC’s advanced systems can detect heat sources within the ruined houses and enable the driver to take action against any threats. Officers describe the region as the “heart of terrorism”, the place of the “Sinwars”, and say there are clashes with terrorists daily there.

Brigadier-General Dan Goldfus, the head of the 98th division fighting in the region, says that he is going after the heads of Hamas, and adds that the Gazans have been left “with sand,” after being promised the “Al-Aqsa flood.”

The IDF claims to have eliminated 1300 terrorists and to have located 150 tunnels, 50% of which have been destroyed. The underground infrastructure is “extremely sophisticated,” with bunkers, command centers and other military bases. At every corner lurk explosive devices or terrorists emerging from the ground to attack soldiers but morale is still very high, even in the wake of the incident in which hostages were mistakenly killed [in a different sector] by IDF soldiers.

One soldier said that as a grandson of a Holocaust survivor, he asked her how the Holocaust happened and she said they didn’t have an army or state. “Now we are here and living on our sword,” he concluded.
