JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a remarkable display of ignorance regarding UNRWA’s role in the October 7th attacks on Israel and the active involvement of its staff in terror, a Norwegian politician recently recommended presenting the Nobel Peace Prize to the putative relief organization.

Norwegian Member of Parliament Asmund Aukrus sparked controversy after expressing his intention to nominate the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In response, Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakobowitz, the rabbi of the southern Sharon region, called on his disciples not to support Norway and not to purchase Norwegian products including Norwegian salmon.

Rabbi Yaakobowitz, a former student of Rabbi Avraham Shapira in Merkaz Harav and the former head of the chief rabbinate’s kashrus imports division, wrote that “after it has become known that Norway is recommending UNWRA as an organization fit to receive the Nobel Peace Prize,  flouting Israel’s contention that UNWRA actively collaborated in the attacks against Israel, I recommend to my followers not to give any support to Norway and not to eat Norwegian salmon.

Rabbi Yaakobowitz quoted the Mishna Berura (242:2) who maintains that if the gentiles raise the price of fish, Jews should forgo eating fish on Shabbat rather than pay the exorbitant prices demanded by the gentiles. In the same way, argues Rabbi Yaakobowitz, we should eschew the Norwegian fish as they support our most murderous enemies.

Rabbi Yaakobowitz recommended instead buying Chilean salmon, which is also clean of worms.
