JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a demonstration of the intelligence information Israel has gleaned about Hamas leaders and their whereabouts, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari released Tuesday evening a dramatic video clip which shows Yahya Sinwar together with his family escaping through tunnels in Khan Younis. The footage was apparently taken at the beginning of the war, as Sinwar went into the tunnels to escape the IDF bombardment of the Gaza strip.

Sinwar can be seen behind family members – his wife and children walk in front of him – and is recognizable by various unique features, although his profile can only be seen from behind. The clip is apparently from a few days after the October 7th attack on Israel.

Hagari stressed that “one clip or another is not important, it is the intelligence information which will enable us to reach Sinwar. The manhunt will continue until we get to him, dead or alive, and we will get to him.”
In another clip related to Sinwar, the IDF published pictures from a tunnel they believe to have been one of his recent hideouts. The tunnel contains several bathrooms, a kitchen, food supplies, beds for bodyguards and extravagant luxuries for the Hamas leader. It also had a safe which held millions of shekels- presumably for Sinwar’s personal use.
