The terrorist made a U-turn and opened fire on the people at the bus stop before he was neutralized by an armed civilian.

Yishai HyD was the son of Rabbi Avigdor Gertner, one of the prominent Avreichim in Modi’in Illit. Previously he had studied at the Maor Hatalmud yeshiva in Rechovot and then transferred to the Kiryat Malachi yeshiva, actively performing kiruv work with the Lev Le’Achim organization and in the yeshiva (which is designated for boys becoming stronger in their religious commitment).

Friends described Yishai as “a successful student who only wanted to do good. He was full of joy, always said a good word, always smiling, always helping others, including needy families and orphans. He never raised his voice, and even when things were hard always said Baruch Hashem.”

The friends added that Yishai was meticulous about financial matters, registering every shekel he loaned and making sure to return it.”

On Friday Yishai was on his way home when he was critically injured in the attack and died in hospital. The levaya took place on Motzaei Shabbos from his home in Modiin Illit to Elad where he was brought to burial

– Staff Sergeant Uri Yaish (27) of Modiin.

Yaish was returning from service in the Gaza strip when he was murdered.

Singer Noa Kirel, who is a cousin of Yaish, eulogized him, stating that “The tragic situation has reached me as well. The sadness and pain don’t cease. We will remember him forever.”

A friend from Uri’s academic studies described him as “the mainstay of the group, he united everyone and the smile never left his lips, he was the happiest person I knew.”

Uri was a graduate of the Yachad school in Modiin and served in the 8119 infantry regiment.

May Hashem avenge their blood.
