JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In the past week, a week that signifies the connection between Holocaust remembrance and Israel’s memorial day, two more baby boys were born to widows from the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel. Tens of widows of the current war have already given birth and the Defense Ministry is assisting and accompanying 28 more war widows due to give birth.

Major Avi (Avraham) Chubalashvili, a deputy battalion commander and resident of Ashdod, was in his home on 7/10 when he received notification of the terrorist infiltration. He got into uniform and sped south to Kibbutz Sufa, eliminating some terrorists near Kibbutz Saad on the way. Receiving news of a mass casualty event at Reim (Nova party) he changed direction and drove there. On the way he was ambushed by a group of terrorists and succeeded in killing some of them before he was killed.
The war hero’s wife Shoshi gave birth this week, and the baby is due to have its Bris Milah on Yom Ha’Atzmaut. Shoshi said that “It is trying to transmit a message, that despite the great sadness, both personal and national, we are here despite everything. They haven’t defeated us – and they won’t defeat us.”
Avi, who was 26 when he fell, is survived by his wife, daughter and newborn son.

A few days earlier, Ella Haimi, the wife of Tal Haimi, gave birth to their fourth child, seven months after Tal, who fought in the kibbutz home guard, was abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak and murdered by Hamas terrorists.Tal’s body remains in Gaza.
The Brit took place on Thursday and Tal’s other children together with Ella decided to name the baby Lotan, as this name contains the letters of their father’s name. The Brit was organized by the You Splash resort hotel in Eilat where the entire Nir Yitzchak kibbutz has been residing since Oct. 7th, including the Haimi family.
