When asked which current head of government he admires most, Johnson replied without hesitation: “Bibi Netanyahu.”
The Speaker praised Netanyahu’s leadership amid ongoing regional conflicts, calling the Israeli premier “a friend” and highlighting what he described as Israel’s fight for “Western civilization” against common threats.
Hours later, Netanyahu posted on X: “Thank you, Speaker Mike Johnson, for your steadfast friendship and support. Deeply appreciated!”
Johnson, an evangelical Christian and vocal supporter of Israel, has consistently backed the Jewish state since assuming the speakership in October 2023. The exchange comes as the Republican-led House continues to push legislation strengthening U.S.-Israel ties and providing military aid to the Israeli government.
