Tucker Carlson Says He Plans to Buy Home in Doha Amid Scrutiny Over Praise of Qatar

NEW YORK – U.S. commentator Tucker Carlson said he intends to purchase a home in Doha, telling Qatar’s prime minister during an interview Sunday that the move is meant to rebut claims he has been financially influenced by the Qatari government.

Carlson, who has recently praised Qatar and criticized Israel while defending the country’s ties to Islamist groups, said he has never accepted money from Doha. “I’m an American and a free man,” he said. “I’ll live wherever I choose.”

He added that buying property in Qatar is meant to make a point. “I haven’t taken money from Qatar, but now I’m giving money to Qatar,” he said.

Carlson has faced mounting criticism for promoting fringe figures and antisemitic narratives. In 2024, he interviewed Holocaust revisionist Darryl Cooper, calling him “honest” even as Cooper downplayed Nazi crimes and blamed Winston Churchill for World War II. Carlson also recently conducted a sympathetic interview with extremist Nick Fuentes.

While Carlson has become a vocal critic of Americans who support Israel, he has defended Qatar despite its human rights record and its support for Hamas. He has questioned whether the Gulf state should be regarded as a jihadist actor, comments that have drawn further backlash.

To rebut? Carlson, you must think people are really stupid. Open your books and show where the funds are coming from for the purchase, how much the property costs, what are prices of comparative properties, who is the prior owner.
