“Last night, we honored the commandment in Deuteronomy and the Woodburn tradition started by Governor Jack Markell, and placed a mezuzah in our home,” Meyer wrote on X, posting a photo of the ceremony. “Lauren, Levi, and I are proud to celebrate Delaware’s inclusive spirit, where every background and every faith is valued.”
The mezuzah ceremony, a longstanding Jewish practice affixing a scroll to a home’s doorpost, highlighted both Meyer’s personal heritage and Delaware’s commitment to religious inclusion.
Woodburn — the state’s historic governor’s residence — has seen mezuzot placed by multiple administrations as the mansion reflects the faith traditions of its occupants.
